Workshop Venue |
The venue is the Smolenice Castle near Bratislava, Slovakia
(50 km from downtown Bratislava, i.e., approximately 1 hour drive).
The Castle, owned by the Slovak Academy of Sciences, was converted
into a unique conference center. Because of its very nice setting,
picturesque architecture, history-evoking interior and pleasant
atmosphere, the Castle is a very popular conference venue especially
for overseas participants. Maps showing location of the Smolenice Castle as well as color photos of the Castle can be found here. |
|
The accommodation capacity of the Castle is 78 participants. There are single-, double-, 2-bed-, 3-bed- and 4-bed rooms in the castle. An additional accommodation is available in the hotels near the Castle. |
|
Full board (breakfast, lunch, dinner, refreshment during coffee breaks) will be served in the Castle. Special requirements (e.g. vegetarian diet) can be met. |
Transportation |
Participants may arrive in Bratislava by plane, train, bus or car (some SPICErs by bikes). Several bus transfers from Bratislava to Smolenice will be organized on Sunday, Sep. 4, 2005. One transfer in the morning (approximately at 11 am), two transfers in the afternoon (appr. at 3 pm and 6 pm), and one transfer appr. at 9 pm. The exact departure times will be adjusted based on information on the arrival of participants. The participants have to leave the Smolenice Castle until 10 am on Saturday, Sep. 10, 2005.
